From Rio de Janeiro
You can get to Parador Lumiar in two ways from Rio de Janeiro: The first way is through BR 101, the Rio-Niteroi Bridge towards Regiao dos Lagos. At Itaborai, take the RJ 116 towards Nova Friburgo. At Muri, 73km, take a right towards Lumiar. At Lumiar, go towards Boa Esperanca and follow the signs.
The second way is to take BR 040 that continues on to BR 116, the Rio-Petropolis road to Parada Modelo. At Parada Modelo, take the RJ 122 towards Cachoeiras de Macacu. Drive towards the mountains and at Muri, 73km, take a right towards Lumiar. At Lumiar, go towards Boa Esperanca and follow the signs. From Boa Esperanca, the road is unpaved.
The distances are the same but during holidays, the second way is faster due to a lower volume of traffic.
From Macaé and Região dos Lagos
From Macae and Regaio dos Lagos, take the RJ 106 towards the city of Rio das Ostras and then take RJ 162 to Rio Dourado. At Rio Dourado, take a left at BR 101 to Casimiro de Abreu and then at km 199, take the RJ 142 to Serra Mar. Drive 35 kilometers to get to Lumiar and another 51 kilometers to Parador Lumiar. From Boa Esperanca, the road is unpaved.
